Treasures In Jars of Clay - 2 Corinthians 4:1-7

April 14, 2025

Calvary Chapel of Marlton welcomes you to Hope From the Word. Here at Hope From the Word we don't preach ourselves, but rather Christ Jesus our Lord. Interesting enough, that's exactly what the Apostle Paul told the church at Corinth in his Second epistle to them. False teachers in Corinth were stressing the need for the law rather than grace. Some today still fall into that trap, thinking they need to add to the Gospel. So we will underscore the message of grace. Here's Pastor Bill Luebkemann in Second Corinthians chapter four...

Today's broadcast centers once again on the resurrection of Christ; what it means to us now, and what it will mean to us in the future when we will inhabit our resurrection bodies. What will they be like? That's something many people have speculated about, but we'll use God's word to investigate this today. Here's Pastor Bill in First Corinthians chapter fifteen.

The resurrection, that's the topic here on Hope from the Word. Welcome to the broadcast. Pastor Bill Luebkemann will return in just a bit as we continue our through-the-Bible study. Today we'll be in First Corinthians chapter fifteen where the Apostle Paul addresses the issue of the resurrection with the Corinthians. They had been led astray, believing that there is no life after death. If there's no resurrection, we have no hope in the Gospel! We'll learn more about the importance of the resurrection in the salvation story as we join Pastor Bill.

First Corinthians is an intense letter with strong language. When you get the context, you can see why Paul had to write the way he did. The church in Corinth had become so messed up it barely resembled the church that Paul had originally established. First Corinthians is Paul's response to the problems in Corinth. One of the main problems the Corinthians found themselves facing was a sudden reliance on earthly wisdom instead of Godly power. Sounds a lot like today, doesn't it? Here's Pastor Bill with today's message...

Today on Hope From the Word, Pastor Bill Luebkemann will continue our survey of the Bible, with a stop in First Corinthians one. Imagine if you had given a beautiful painting to your city's art museum, and found out that after you left, the people had defaced it and abused it. You'd be pretty upset, right? Well, the Apostle Paul found out while that while he was away, the church he established in Corinth had perverted and abused the gospel. This letter called First Corinthians is his response to those reports. Today's message is all about the power of God and how His ways are always the best ways. Here's Pastor Bill…

Several years ago, there was a popular set of toys for kids called “transformers”. These little robots could be bent, turned and manipulated into several different characters. Today on Hope From the Word, Pastor Bill Luebkemann begins a study in Romans chapter twelve, as we are reminded that Satan's goal is to cause us to do the very opposite of transforming, he wants us to conform to the world. Our goal as Christians should be to become consecrated and separated. Here's our teacher, Pastor Bill Luebkemann

Welcome once again to Hope From the Word. Romans chapter three gives us an answer as to how justification works. It comes to us through faith. It is a product of God's grace, and it is a result of all that God has done for us. On Hope From the Word, we've been studying selected chapters of the New Testament, and again today we'll be in the book of Romans. And now we come to the solution to the mess we've gotten ourselves into. Our teacher is Pastor Bill Luebkemann, and we meet up with him now in Romans three, as he helps us understand what justification is all about.

Today, Pastor Bill resumes his survey through the New Testament with a stop in the book of Romans. As we turn to chapter three, we encounter the Apostle Paul addressing arguments against the Gospel, much like a lawyer in a courtroom. He tells his Jewish audience that they have certain advantages, and with that comes responsibility. We'll see what we can glean from that as well. Here's Pastor Bill to explain...

In the Apostle Paul's day, the city of Athens was the center of progressive thinking. They had the market cornered on philosophy and intellectual discussion. Yet, they were completely lost when it came to spiritual matters. Sounds a lot like many of our universities today, doesn't it? Professors that act as if they know more than God Himself are influencing young minds with alarming success. How do we, as believers, deal with this problem? We'll see Paul's example today as we continue to look at Acts seventeen here on Hope From the Word with Bill Luebkemann pastor of Calvary Chapel of Marlton. Feel free to follow along with us, if you have your Bible handy, as we now join Pastor Bill for today's study.

We've been enjoying a journey through the Scriptures and today we've landed in Acts seventeen. In this chapter, the Apostle Paul finds himself alone in the city of Athens, surrounded by idolatry at every turn. Even though he's outnumbered, Paul devises a clever plan to reach these people with the Gospel. Here's Pastor Bill with the details...
