Real Worship - Ecclesiastes 5:1-7

October 2, 2024

Welcome to Hope From the Word, with Pastor Bill Luebkemann, from Calvary Chapel of Marlton. It's great to have you along as we continue our series through the Bible with a stop in Ecclesiastes. Solomon wrote this Old Testament book with a question in mind: “What's the point of life?” Today we ask a more specific question: “What's the point of church?” We meet on Sunday morning; We sing songs; We pray; We hear a message; and we visit with our friends; is that all it's supposed to be? Oh, how easy it is to get into a rut at church and forget why we're really there, to praise God in a united voice! Here's Pastor Bill Luebkemann…

Today we bring you Pastor Bill's final message from Proverbs in his series through the Bible. We've spent time recently in the last chapter of Proverbs, where the writer discusses the great blessings to be found in the company of a Godly woman. She should possess traits like compassion, generosity, and patience. If you have a Bible handy, turn to Proverbs chapter thirty-one, as Bill Luebkemann brings our series through the Proverbs to a close.

A noted psychologist says this, “Today's young women are more likely to become depressed than their mothers were, and at a younger age.” The reasons? Increased economic pressure to contribute to family income, a changing role in society, an inability to meet their own expectations, and a sense of having lost control.  What do all of these reasons for depression have in common? They all exclude the presence of God. That's really the bottom line as we discuss the traits of a Godly woman. We're concentrating today on the last chapter of Proverbs, so turn to chapter thirty-one and join us for today's important message. Here's Bill Luebkemann…

Is a smart person always a wise person? That's an interesting question to consider. The truth is, intelligence and wisdom are often not connected. I'm sure there are some prisoners in our country with some pretty high I.Q.'s! The book of wisdom, called Proverbs, points out the importance and benefits of making wisdom a part of our lives. Pastor Bill has been taking us through the Bible and recently we've been taking a closer look at the book of Proverbs. Today we're in chapter three where we'll learn about the rewards we can reap by making Godly wisdom a part of our decision making. Here's Bill Luebkemann with today's message.

Today we begin another study in Proverbs. This incredible book of wisdom was written by a very wise man named Solomon. The thing that set Solomon apart in the wisdom department was his faith that any knowledge he had was useless without God's wisdom attached. It's something we should keep in mind as we join Bill Luebkemann for today's message.

From court decisions that leave us shaking our heads, to mass shootings, and wars and rumors of wars, we can't help but think Jesus is coming back soon! Until He does, it's our duty as believers to lead godly lives and to be a witness to the unsaved. We can do it with God's help! Here's Pastor Bill with today's study in Proverbs chapter three…

Today we'll open our Bibles to the book of Proverbs as we consider the topic of our morality. As a nation, the United States was founded on Christian principles. If you look around today, you'd have trouble finding proof of that fact. God is being kicked out of schools, government, and every other part of life. What are the consequences of such a trend? Proverbs chapter three speaks to this topic. Here's Bill Luebkemann…

Discipline is a hot topic of discussion amongst people today, especially educators. There was a time when discipline in the classroom was not only acceptable, but an integral part of learning and growing. Things have changed, haven't they? God's attitude toward discipline has never changed. It's an important part of the life of the believer. Here's Bill Luebkemann with today's study in Proverbs.

If you're joining us for the first time today, welcome! We're studying in Proverbs today, so turn there in the Old Testament and join us. We're going to look once again at Proverbs one today on Hope from the Word with Pastor Bill Luebkemann. There are many worthwhile pursuits undertaken by people today. But there are also a lot of people who waste their lives in worthless pursuit of riches, power or high station in life. The greatest pursuit we can have is to pursue a closer relationship with God, and seek His wisdom. That's what Proverbs chapter one is all about. Here's Pastor Bill Luebkemann with today's study…

One day the generators at Henry Ford's auto plant stopped working, and the repairmen couldn't find the problem. So Ford called Charlie Steinmetz, the man who built them. He tinkered for an hour or so, and suddenly, the generators whirred to life. Ford got a bill for $10,000 from Steinmetz. Flabbergasted, he inquired why the bill was so high. Steinmetz's reply: For tinkering with the generators, $10. For knowing where to tinker, $9,990. Now you might say that's wisdom! Today on Hope From The Word, Pastor Bill Luebkemann begins a look in the Proverbs. Turn to Proverbs one as we learn what Godly wisdom is all about. Here's Bill with our first study…
