Jesus' Attitudes - Matthew 5

January 29, 2025

Oftentimes we get the idea that meekness is the same as weakness. Maybe you think that if you display meekness, you make yourself a doormat. But today on Hope from the Word, we'll see that true meekness is power under control. It's being willing to humble yourself and submit to a better way or a better plan. Christ Himself displayed meekness during His time on earth. We're going to take a look at the beatitudes and see how we can be more like Jesus so join us now in Matthew chapter five. Here's Pastor Bill Luebkemann.

Today on Hope From the Word, Pastor Bill Luebkemann will begin a detailed examination of the first twelve verses of the Sermon on the Mount, known as the Beatitudes. “Blessed are” can be translated to mean “happy are”, so what we're really exploring here is the road to true and lasting happiness. Anyone can find temporary happiness in certain things, but lasting happiness? Only God has the answer! Here's Pastor Bill Luebkemann with our first look at the Beatitudes, in Matthew chapter five.

It seems so easy to get our lives out of focus. It happens when our foundation is not built on the Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome to Hope From the Word with Bill Luebkemann, the Pastor of Calvary Chapel of Marlton. We're at the end of the Old Testament in our through-the-Bible series, as we take a final look at the book of Malachi. When we realize that the Lord owns all the earth, then it would seem strange that He could be robbed of anything. And yet, the book of Malachi reveals how God could be robbed of those things that are most important to Him. And where is justice when this takes place? Join us for today's message as Pastor Bill Luebkemann takes a final look at the book of Malachi.

Pastor Bill takes us to the last book of the Old Testament, Malachi. While only three chapters long, Malachi has significant spiritual advice regarding the path to self-deception. If you want to avoid the danger of doubt, dishonor and deception, stay with us and turn to Malachi chapter one.

We'll go to Zechariah today to see how much God cares for Jerusalem, and how much He cares for us. So locate Zechariah, near the end of the Old Testament, and we'll join Pastor Bill for the second half of his study in Zechariah, a so-called minor prophet with a major message…

The last section of the Old Testament is commonly referred to as the “minor prophets”. It's also often disregarded by some Christians as boring or hard to understand. Nothing could be further from the truth! The book of Zechariah will have our attention today as we learn about the protection and love of God. Please join us and turn to the Book of Zechariah, the second to last book in the Old Testament. Here's Pastor Bill with today's study in Zechariah chapter four.

Welcome to Hope From the Word, the radio outreach of Calvary Chapel of Marlton. Our teacher is Pastor Bill Luebkemann, who is taking us through Haggai, one of the Minor Prophets at the end of the Old Testament. And it seems that the folks in Old Testament times had the same awful temptation that we do today, not finding time for God. What are the consequences of such misplaced priorities? We'll find out today. Pastor Bill begins today's study in Haggai chapter one and verse seven.

Today Pastor Bill continues his overview of the Old Testament Minor Prophets, whose messages had a major impact on Israel, and still have special implications for anyone who calls themselves a Christian today. One of the greatest of these minor prophets was a man named Haggai. If you can, open your Bible and join us in the book of Haggai as we join Pastor Bill for his message entitled “Build the House”.

The pollution of a nation is a terrible thing. We're not talking about air, water, or noise pollution. Although those things are bad, they're not as bad as spiritual pollution. When we are not focused on worshipping and living for God but instead allow other things to crowd Him out of our lives, spiritual decay sets in. That's what happened to Israel, and the Lord used the Prophet Zephaniah to warn them about it. On Today's Hope From the Word broadcast, Pastor Bill Luebkemann examines this message in Zephaniah chapter one. Here's our teacher, and the senior pastor at Calvary Chapel of Marlton, Bill Luebkemann…

What other gods could we have besides the Lord? Plenty. For Israel, there were the Canaanite Baals, nature gods whose worship was a rampage of gluttony, drunkenness, and ritual prostitution. For us there are still those same type of gods today. Gods of Sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll; not to mention Football, Fitness, and Fajitas! Today on Hope From the Word, Pastor Bill Luebkemann will study the book of Zephaniah and a warning about the dangers of hardening our hearts to God. Here's Bill in a study shared at Calvary Chapel of Marlton.

Today on Hope From the Word, Pastor Bill Luebkemann continues his overview of the Old Testament minor prophets. Today we'll complete our look at Habakkuk. Last time, Pastor Bill was showing us that faith is improved through great struggle and that often God will allow things to get worse before He makes them better. And even though it may be difficult to understand at the time, it's for His glory and our good. That's where Pastor Bill begins now, in Habakkuk chapter one.
