His Wonders - Micah 7

January 8, 2025

A warm welcome to each of you. Pastor Bill Luebkemann will be with us in just a moment as we present Hope From the Word. We've seen here in our world recently a heavy push for the unification of all religions. Interfaith services are on the rise, and the ecumenical movement is growing in popularity. But, what is it that sets our God, the Lord Jesus Christ, apart from every other so-called god out there? The prophet Micah asked a similar question. “Who is like this God?” Pastor Bill will direct our attention to the uniqueness and goodness of the one and only God here today. Turn if you would to Micah seven as we join Pastor Bill Luebkemann for Hope From the Word…

As many Christians know, there's much more to Jonah than just a fish story. In fact, as we'll find out in today's message from Pastor Bill Luebkemann, Jonah was a lot like many Christians today. They may be firm in their belief, but a little shaky when it comes to following the Lord's will for their lives. Perhaps that describes you? Are you running from God's will? In any case, the life of Jonah and the consequences of his disobedience will serve as a lesson for us all. So, join us and turn in your Bible to Jonah chapter three for today's edition of Hope From the Word with Bill Luebkemann.

Jonah is one of the books in the Old Testament dubbed the “minor prophets”, but that's not to say the message is minor. Jonah has many great lessons to teach us despite its relatively small size. It's more than just the story of a man who was swallowed by a big fish. Everything leading up to that rather amazing event is important as well. Today on Hope From the Word, Pastor Bill will show us the folly of running from God.

Pastor Bill will turn our attention once again to a people called the Edomites. Edom was a region northwest of Jerusalem, inhabited by the descendants of Esau, the brother of Jacob. And the Edomites, like their forefather, were proud and always opposed the descendants of Jacob. And the Lord sent the Edomites a message of judgment through the prophet Obadiah. What do we have to learn from the Edomites? We'll find out as we join Pastor Bill for today's study.

God has many character traits; He is merciful, has infinite love, infinite power and is gracious, just to mention a few. But one of the characteristics that we can also appreciate is His faithfulness. We can rest assured as Christians that God will bring all His plans to pass. And we see his faithfulness demonstrated in Israel's history. We'll be looking at the book of Obadiah today, located right in between Amos and Jonah. Here's Pastor Bill Luebkemann…

Happy New Year! We may be past Christmas but we have one more special Christmas message to bring you today on Hope from the Word. If we're not careful, we can take a lot of things for granted – even the most important things. That's why we have reminders like Christmas. Christmas is a special time to remind us of why Jesus came. Because God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son, whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life! To expound on this great truth, let's join Pastor Bill as he begins in Luke's gospel chapter four and verse eighteen.

Christmas is past and we're heading into a new year but we still need the continual reminder that Jesus came to save sinners. Every day of the year, it's important to remember that we have a savior who loves us and came to earth to die on our behalf. Today on Hope from the Word we will continue to discuss why Jesus came. Tragically, there is confusion over who Jesus is and what He was doing during His time here. Any religious teaching that makes salvation something other than God's grace through faith, is not what the Bible teaches. For more, let's join Pastor Bill Luebkemann as he begins today in John's gospel chapter three and verse seventeen.

Recently we've been looking at the Christmas story and we continue today! We're currently considering why Jesus came. Ezekiel was given prophetic insight to the purpose surrounding the coming Messiah some 600 years prior to that first Christmas. Jesus came to bring peace but He also, strange as it sounds, brings division. And of course Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. Now to delve deeper into these glorious truths, here's Pastor Bill.

We're glad you could join us today as we continue a series of very special Christmas messages. Pastor Bill will address the question of why Jesus came to earth in the first place and, in doing so, will challenge us to consider why we're here. Here's Pastor Bill with Christmas time Hope from the Word.

Christmas is behind us but we are going to continue with more teaching from Pastor Bill Luebkemann, centering around the Christmas message. Many of the movies we see have a villain and, in the case of the Christmas story, our villain is King Herod, a man so obsessed with his position as king that he ordered his own son murdered. Last time, we talked about the wise men and their trip to visit young Jesus. As we review the journey of the wise men today, we begin with their visit to Herod's palace as recorded in Matthew, chapter two.

Can you believe it? Christmas is here! We hope you have a very merry Christmas and we're so grateful you could join us today. You may have heard someone say recently, “What do you get the person who has everything?” Well, this definitely applied to the wise men that traveled to meet Jesus not long after His birth. But their question was more along the lines of, “What do you get the person who is God?” This is Hope from the Word with Pastor Bill Luebkemann of Calvary Chapel of Marlton. Join us, if you would, in Matthew, chapter two, as we take a closer look at these men called by God to bring presents to young Jesus.
