Though we are different people and God has given each of us a different life to live, we all indeed are sinners before the Lord! We all make mistakes, big ones and small ones. Sometimes those mistakes cost a substantial amount. God is completely and utterly unimpressed by man's best efforts. The Bible makes it clear that our good intentions don't measure up to God's holiness. So, when we take it on ourselves to do a wonderful thing for God without asking him what he wants us to do for him, it is worthless. There is no ‘thing' we can build, no song we can sing, no book we can write or picture we can paint that will impress God without the heart of a servant that desires to obey Him. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. This is a well-known saying and couldn't be more true. Good intention is no guarantee that the action or thought leads to a good or godly result. We need to search God's word and then do what He tells us is best. His ways are not our ways, and at times they may even seem counterproductive. Fear is contagious. It's amazing how fear and mass hysteria spreads through a crowd and can even affect the bravest of men. Well, as we look into First Samuel we find a King and his entire army trapped in fear because of a man so large you would have to have a ladder just to touch his head. And perhaps, their fear was justifiable. But there was one young man who did not fear this giant. Not because of his trust in himself, but because of his trust in his God. One of the most memorable characters of all time in wrestling would have to be Andre the Giant. At seven feet and four inches tall and five hundred pounds, he was HUGE. A similar giant in sports is Dwight Howard. Both of these men are legendary for their amazing size, however, there was a man who dwarfed them both. His height was somewhere between nine and a half to eleven feet tall, and his coat of armor alone weighed as much as a man. His spear was a two by four with a twenty-pound head on the end.
