 We’re just getting our feet wet in the book of Revelation, and today we’ll have an eye on verses 4-7 of chapter one.  In the first few chapters of Revelation we read about 7 churches.  Who and what are these churches all about, and known for?  We’ll get into that today!

We’ll be finishing up Third John, and introduce you to a couple of guys that couldn’t be more different.  The first of which is Diotrophes.  He wanted to be preeminent, draw people to himself, and it was all about him!  Could the same be said of you?  We’ll have a look in the mirror today and take what pastor Matt refers to as the Dio test.

Today the plan is to finish up Second John.  There’s a lot of confusion today surrounding what loving others really means.  It’s not just giving people what they want to hear, or making them feel comfortable in their sin! We’ll learn today that if we’re not walking in obedience to the truth then we’re not exercising love!  We cannot separate truth from obedience because obedience is a function of love.

About Matt VanderVen

Matt VanderVen is the senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Harrisburg – West Shore. Matt and his wife, Lisa, moved from Rochester, NY to Harrisburg, PA in 2014 to begin a simple, line by line teaching through God’s Word on Wednesday evenings.
