A changed calling

God changes men’s hearts all the time and yet as Christians we often see someone that seems to have everything in place in their lives and we question if they could make a choice to follow Jesus.
Today’s guest seemed to have it all. Great job, owner of a great company, freedom to do whatever he wanted to do. Yet, he had a hole in his life. Then one day, he heard about a man named Jesus, that allowed Himself to be hung on the cross just for him.
Today, that same outdoorsman that seemed to have everything, left it all behind and went to work sharing the gospel at a Cowboy Church in the cattle country of South Texas.

Sometimes God brings His children together in the most unusual ways. Today’s guest saw the logoed God’s Great Outdoors Truck in a hotel parking lot in Lafayette Louisiana and the next day God placed our host and his guest at the side of the truck at the same time. Both of the men and their wives happened to be heading to North Houston the next day and met
Our guest will share about his love for the outdoors and his love for the Lord. We will travel from the woods of Louisiana to hard streets of Houston where he and others are leading men and women to the Lord as they come out of rough lives of sin.

Some of us have lived fairly sheltered lives and at times we feel as though we don’t have a testimony as many others we know. Then there are those that lived out a full sinful life at a young age. Today’s guest came from a life of drugs to a life of service for the Lord… A life of living for the next high to living for the next chance to share the Gospel. God has used this past drug dealer to build churches and to finance ministry all over the world. The churches that he has pastored have financed missionaries to the African bush to cowboys on the rodeo grounds. No mater how far you feel you are from where God wants you, today’s show will show you that you are never beyond the reach of a loving God. It also will show those that might be dealing with addictions that there is hope in the Lord.

Sometimes God chases those He has called a long way for we allow Him to get ahold of us. On today’s show we will learn of a man that God follow around the world, from North Carolina to Africa, the Artic Ocean, Hawaii, and He finally got his attention in British Columbia, Canada. The amazing thing is that in the same time that the Holy Spirit caught up to him, he also caught up to his wife, in Kona Hawaii and all that after 40 years of waiting for them to turn their lives over to Him. Our guest today has lead a very adventuresome life as a professional fisherman that became a professional fisher-of-men. He has guided to some of the biggest fish in the world and God didn’t call him out of that, but instead allows him to win souls for Christ, sometimes right from his boat.

So often we wonder why our prayers don’t seem to be heard or life seems to be a struggle with no peace… we have to consider… are we delighting ourselves in the Lord.This week’s guest shares stories of great hunts across North America with his daughters and other family members, as well as his travel for ministry and missions.He also shares how he was tested and he painfully gave up what he wanted to the wants of the Lord. When we give up our wants for His plans, we will be blessed in amazing ways.

There are few places or activities more relaxing than a trout stream with a fly rod. The art of fly fishing has very little to do with fishing and more about peace and tranquility and time with our creator. On today’s show we will meet a fisherman who began his lifetime pursuit of his passion at a very young age. He learned early on that flyfishing is a passionate pursuit. If you ‘ve never experienced the arching line whirling overhead and a fly settling gently on the water’s surface, you are missing one of the greatest and most refreshing experiences in God’s Great Outdoors.

Once we find them, we are called to put them to use On today’s program we’ll meet a young man that was raised in Southern Indiana in the woods and fields. God gave him a gift of a mechanical mind and a heart for service. We’ll learn how his gifts have been used to changes lives in many ways for people all over the world. As you listen, we challenge you to consider what talents and tools God has blessed you with that you are not using to His glory. Consider how you might be used to change lives for those less fortunate and to advance God’s kingdom.

It’s a very special week, all over the world… Easter Week. The week, on the show, we celebrate the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Many of us can remember the old cartoon character, Ziggy, the little depressed guy that walked around with a black cloud over his head all the time. Today’s guest has a close connection with Ziggy, as she went through many years with seemingly one bad hunting experience after another. This past fall was different, after a disappointing beginning she killed the best buck of her life and was redeemed. She’ll share the stories of victories and defeats as well as a wrong choice and another redemption story.

We’ll hear Johnny Burbank’s story of overcoming an addiction to alcohol and God has used him ever since that time. We will see how God can transform what looked like a wasted life into a strong man of God that has been used by God in amazing ways.

Dean Hulce was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where he spent every weekend in the woods or on the water with family and friends. After graduation he married his highschool sweetheart Linda. They have two boys and 5 grandchildren.
Dean has written for several hunting and fishing magazines over the last 25 years. He has guided hunters and fisherman as well as run hunting fishing camps from South Texas to Alaska and many states and provinces in between. In the last 10 years Dean has written a daily devotional that goes out to thousands each day. He had published 5 devotional books, using hunting stories to bring a message to people. He has traveled across the USA speaking to groups, spreading the gospel through outdoor experiences.
