Sometimes those who are closest to Christianity have the hardest time realizing they don't completely understand it. To hang out in or grow up in the church is not the same thing as to be saved; to know things about God is not the same as being saved.

It should not surprise us that Christianity is controversial. The message of the cross is a stumbling block for some and salvation for others. In today's passage, the religious leaders are unable to face the real issue while the widow sets the right example.
