Is the Bible true?

Christians believe the Bible is divinely inspired and essential for teaching, correction, and spiritual growth, but there is often a gap between this belief and actual practice. This gap is partly due to academic skepticism about the Bible's reliability and the argument that using the Bible in modern, post-literate society is unnecessary.

This article addresses the following 10 questions…

Is the Bible true?

Is the Bible historically accurate?

Is the Bible scientifically compatible?

Is the Bible ethically acceptable?

Why do you believe the Bible is true?

Can you be a scientist and also believe in the Bible?

Can you have a high view of reason and still also believe in the Bible?

What could you do today to start finding out about the truthfulness of the Bible?

What new areas of your life could you submit to the truth claims of the Bible?

Does the Bible promote intolerance?

The book of Habakkuk is a great reminder for those of us who are committed to the Scriptures, particularly those of us who are preachers or Bible study leaders or parents, to not only be committed to the Scriptures, but also be committed to prayer. Habakkuk was an Old Testament prophet, and this book was written a long time ago, yet the Bible is still relevant to us today. Habakkuk asks the kind of questions you and I might ask: What about justice?

This triad of virtues: faith, hope, and love—why is the greatest of these love? Because in heaven there will be no need for faith because we'll see Him, and there will be no need for hope because hope will have been fulfilled; all that is left is love. Heaven is a world of love—beautiful, real, possible, filled with grace, and offered to us.

We may meet Christians who worship differently than we do, who look different, who have a different language and culture—and yet we're one. When you meet a Christian, you know you're one in spirit. There's a mission purpose to this unity.
