The High Life

May 23, 2024

Being a Christian in a secular world isn’t always easy is it? You might even see the conflict between righteousness and worldliness on the job every day. The temptations are everywhere. But, as we’ll see in our study today, Christians are supposed to set themselves above the ways of the world. It’s a lofty goal, but one that is certainly not beyond our reach.

There are obsolete laws everywhere, and today on The Dwelling Place, we’ll again look at the relationship between Old Testament Law, and the Grace of Jesus Christ. This is not to imply that God’s law is obsolete, but we must integrate our adherence to the Law, with our understanding that we’ve been sanctified and set apart through our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Today on The Dwelling Place, we continue through Colossians, and we’re going to examine the relationship between living under the law and living under the Grace of Jesus Christ. The law exists for a purpose, but too many Christians today are hung up on ritual and laws. That’s exactly what Paul addresses in the section of Colossians we’ll look at today.

For the last several broadcasts we’ve been Colossians chapter one.  As we continue the series today, we approach an interesting issue.  Do you ever feel as though your not up to the task, that you just don’t have the ability to do something?  The marvelous thing about the Christian life is that we are not called to rely on our own sufficiency, but rather on the sufficiency of Christ.

You’ve no doubt been asked to do something that was a stretching experience for you, that called you to go out of your comfort zone.  Perhaps it was giving a speech in class, or doing something else that you really didn’t want to do.  Well, sometimes our call to ministry will lead us beyond our comfort zone too, and that’s a good thing as we’ll soon see.

Today, pastor Al Pittman will be discussing the nature of salvation, and how to know whether you are an authentic Christian, or just faking it. Can you lose your salvation?  As you may know, Christians have debated the answer to that question for centuries.  Pastor Al shows us next that there is strong scriptural support for the once saved, always saved position.
