Today on The Dwelling Place, Al Pittman begins our final study in Galatians and shows us how we are to respond when a fellow believer falls into sin.  There’s a tendency to want to shake our finger in disgust, but as we see now, it is at that time when the Bible calls us to restore the individual with gentleness, and use practical love.

The Holy Spirit makes us what we ought to be – more loving and joyful. We’ll learn how today on The Dwelling Place. We’ve come in our study of Galatians to chapter five verses sixteen through eighteen, where Paul describes the evidence of our transformation.

We continue making our way through the New Testament book of Galatians. And in chapter five, we’re told to stand strong in the freedom we have in Christ. Then we’re warned there are some things that can rob us of our freedom. We’ll also be assured of the difference grace truly makes and be encouraged to hold on to it by faith.

Today on The program, pastor Al Pittman continues his study of Galatians, and has us turn to the fifth chapter. It’s here that the apostle Paul combats the legalists of his day with the message of God’s grace. It’s pretty amazing to consider that with the life of Jesus, and His resurrection still fresh in their minds, the people of Galatia still thought they needed to follow the rules in order to go to heaven.

One of the things that helps us obey is knowing from whom the command comes, how much authority they have, and how much doing what they ask will matter. If the command comes from a coworker - it will not have the same impact as if it had come directly from the boss. Well, we have commands that have come directly from the Lord. The Thessalonians believers understood that the word that the Apostle gave them was in truth - the word of God. And they responded accordingly.

Pastor Al Pittman will show us today what the apostle Paul was referring to when he told the Galatians “They have fallen from grace”. And as we go along in this section of Galatians, we’ll receive a very strong but needed warning not to pursue self-righteousness. Paul wrote this letter to a group of Jews who just couldn’t accept that the gospel message was intended for Gentiles as well. God’s grace is available to every person - and hallelujah to that!

Currently, pastor Al Pittman is leading us through Galatians, verse by verse.  Here in America, we consider it a courtesy to open and close a door for another person.  Some of us guys forget that about the fourth or fifth year of marriage, right?  Today, we’ll observe God opening and closing doors for His children, and specifically the apostle Paul.  God sovereignly orchestrates the events of our lives, and that can be a great comfort to know.

When God laid it on the heart of George Mueller to build orphanages in Bristol, England, he had only two shillings to call his own.  Without making his needs known to anyone but God, over seven million dollars were sent to him for the building and maintenance of the homes.  Now there was a man who not only was saved by faith, but also walked and lived by faith. Today, Pastor Al Pittman will urge us to do likewise.  Galatians chapter four will be our text for today’s teaching.

The law of God also has a purpose, and that is to reveal our sin and point us to Christ.  If we look at God’s law as a set of rules to follow in oder to get to heaven, we miss then point. We cannot obey the law perfectly, and the law points that out to us, so we must turn to faith in Christ for our salvation. Today on The Dwelling Place Pastor Al Pittman will elaborate as he continues his study of Galatians.  We’ll be in chapter three on this day, beginning in verse twenty-two.
