There’s a popular saying among pastors concerning sermons. It goes something like this. “Tell them what you’re going to tell them, then tell them, and finally, tell them what you told them.” The apostle Paul employs this method in his writing of Romans. Having already introduced himself, he will now give a basic introduction explaining what’s ahead of us in the coming chapters of this fascinating book.

The book of Romans does not pull any punches when it describes Jesus as who He really is - God in human flesh. Romans also serves as a tutorial on how to effectively live out our faith.

If you summed up this letter, it would be a loving warning to the church of Colossi that they had strayed from the true gospel and were more interested in philosophy and “higher thought” than the real message of repentance and salvation through Christ.
