As we look at Psalm eighty-four on this day, we’re encouraged by the mercy of God and our Lord’s never ending lovingkindness.

God promotes unification, but only the brand that is centered on Christ and His Word, and certainly not all of the religions of the world do that. When we dwell together in the right sort of unity, that is good and pleasant in the Lord’s sight. As in so many parts of life, there are two ways of dealing with trouble and tragedy. The world says “handle it yourself, stand on your own two feet”, while the Bible tells us to turn to God. Today on The Dwelling Place, our journey through the Psalms continues as we look at Psalm eighty-one. This Psalm is packed with powerful words. When you face a trial in your life, what’s your first reaction? We call ourselves “Christians”, and we love to share with others about our relationship with God, but do we really believe what we tell others? Do we really turn to God first in a time of trial?

Before a Hurricane strikes, many respond to the warning, and leave their home for a safe shelter. Others, sadly do not. Well, when the storms of life rain down on us, we also need to seek shelter. Psalm eighty-one is the subject of today's study. It’s good to know that God will never let us down, even when storms are raging, and all seems lost. Those are the times when we should turn to Him first!

In this day of do whatever you please and whatever feels good to you, people don’t like to hear about judgment. But the student of the Bible cannot escape the truth that judgment day is on the horizon. We have a merciful and loving God...there’s no debating that fact. But He’s also one day going to judge the world, and when you enter that heavenly courtroom, you definitely want Jesus on your side!
