Past Episodes

In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer recounts Vice President Kamala Harris’s very bad week. Harris faced significant backlash last week, as her campaign efforts coincided with the third anniversary of the Abbey Gate bombing (outside of the Kabul Airport) in Afghanistan—a tragic event during the Biden-Harris administration that resulted in the deaths of 13 American servicemen and women. While Harris was on the campaign trail, former President Donald Trump attended a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, invited by the Gold Star families of those killed in the bombing. When images of Trump at the ceremony went viral, Harris criticized him for politicizing the event, sparking outrage from the grieving families. They condemned her remarks as “heinous, vile, and disgusting” and praised Trump for offering them solace during their time of grief. Kelly Barnett, whose son was among the fallen, defended Trump’s actions, highlighting his ongoing support. Harris’s failure to acknowledge the names of the deceased has only deepened the families' anger. Listen now.

In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer interviews John Stemberger, president of Liberty Counsel Action and senior counsel of Liberty Counsel. The two discuss the considerable controversy in the American Church about the proper role of Christians and their pastors concerning the governance of society. One faction believes that Christians and church leaders have a biblically grounded obligation to weigh into matters of public affairs. The other side believes that public policy has no place in local churches. Stemberger calls the latter "…bad theology, believing somehow that the Church is an institution that shouldn't engage in culture, that it should only focus on ecclesiastical matters and theology." Stemberger says that at least once every two years, pastors must weigh into elections with their congregations, and clearly and powerfully define the various positions of political parties on matters important to Christ-followers. Not doing so would mean misunderstanding the Christian's role in society. You won’t want to miss this critically important discussion. Listen now.

In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer interviews frequent guest Tom Rose, who is live from Israel. The two discuss the historical importance of the National Jewish Day of Mourning. In Hebrew, the Tisha B'Av is the saddest day on the Jewish calendar (August 12-13, 2024). On this day, Jews deprive themselves of nearly all human comforts and devote themselves to prayer and fasting. The holiday is the culmination of the Three Weeks, a period during which the Jewish people mark the destruction of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem by the Babylonians in 486 BC and the Roman Empire in 70 AD. You won't want to miss this fascinating discussion.

In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer and special guest, former Representative from Minnesota Hon. Michele Bachmann, dissect recently announced vice presidential nominee, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz's totalitarian record. On the issue of the sanctity of human life, Bachmann calls Walz "a monster" who passed into law the most extreme pro-abortion laws in America. Bachmann says that Walz repealed Minnesota's "Born Alive Act." As a result, eight babies who survived abortions were allowed to die. "Tim Walz is no back-slapping farmer in a plaid shirt who coaches high school sports. Rather, he's the most anti-life governor in America," says Bachmann. Walz is also the most pro-Communist governor in the country. According to passport records, Walz and his wife spent their honeymoon in China. Over 20 years, he has visited there as a guest of the Communist Chinese government more than 20 times. In this podcast, Bachmann and Bauer deliver the devastating receipts on the Minnesota Governor. Don't miss this riveting discussion.

In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer shares his thoughts on the failed assassination attempt on former President Trump. As Christians, we don't believe in luck. Instead, we uphold the divine providence of Almighty God. According to the physician who treated the former president, fractions of an inch were the difference between life and instant death. Bauer also recognizes the sacrifice of ardent Christian Corey Comperatore, the firefighter husband and father who, when shots rang out, threw his body over his wife and daughter and took the assassin's bullet (intended for Trump) that ended his life. "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13.) Don't miss this historically essential and incredibly riveting special podcast.

Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer shares that radical secularists (today's neo-Marxists) have been attempting to rewrite America's founding, to erase religion (specifically, Christianity) for a very long time. Bauer plays clips from a speech delivered by President Ronald Reagan held at a Dallas, Texas, prayer breakfast in 1984. Spoiler alert! President Reagan takes these attacks from the Left masterfully head-on. Shredding them by root and branch, the President brought the 17,000 attendees to thunderous ovations again and again. You may want to listen to this podcast more than once.
