Thank God for grace not only to save us but to sanctify us, as well. That’s not to say, we’re not involved in the process!  We are but we’re not the source of strength. God is.  That comes to our attention today on According To The Scriptures with pastor Damian Kyle.

Many who would characterize themselves as New Testament believers are still living under the Old Testament law. They’re still trying to live up to a standard that is unattainable, instead of recognizing the law was intended to show us we can’t keep it. And we need a Savior who not only can save guilty sinners but also bring about holiness in our lives.  Today on According to the Scriptures we’ll recognize this tendency we have so we don’t miss out on the true sanctifying work of Jesus!

Corrie Ten Boom once said, “It’s only after human effort has done its very best and failed that God’s power is free to work.” A comfort to some and a challenge to others. But in both cases, it raises the issue of sanctification and it also raises the question, “How then is it accomplished?” We’ll get some encouraging answers today on According to the Scriptures with Damian Kyle. We’ll find those answers in Roman chapter seven where we’ll discover not only the limits of human ability, but also the limits of the law of God.

All sorts of fads and teachings roll through the church, and if we’re wise we’ll pause and do what the Bereans of old did… search the Scriptures to see if it’s of God and true!  Today on According to the Scriptures pastor Damian Kyle urges us to be a Berean as we open up Acts seventeen.  These Bereans displayed certain marks of nobility we’d do well to consider and adopt into our own lives.

Romans chapter six tells us that we are no longer under sin’s dominion.  As believers in Christ we are now under new management. And that in Christ we are free from sin’s power.  Can you honestly say, “I’m not the same person today that I was before I became a Christian?”  Think that through with pastor Damian Kyle as he explains how we’re to move forward in the Christian life after salvation!

According to the Scriptures is the radio ministry of Calvary Chapel Modesto with Pastor Damian Kyle. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 says, “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”

About Damian Kyle

Damian Kyle committed his life to the Lord in 1980 at Calvary Chapel Napa California at the age of 25. He had previously been employed as a cable splicer with the phone company. His family moved from Napa to Modesto in June of 1985 to plant a Calvary Chapel with the blessing of their home church. He now serves as the pastor of Calvary Chapel in Modesto, California.
