As we return to the book of Romans we’ll learn of the risk in trusting in the law to save.  The privileged Jew didn’t live up to their privilege and consequently brought reproach on God’s name. It’s a grave error – you definitely want to avoid.

You may have had a teacher in school that would grade using a class curve, but God doesn’t judge that way!  Some are under the impression that if they do more good than bad, or are better than their neighbor down the street, God will accept that.  But the book of Romans establishes, we’re all guilty sinners before a holy God, and salvation is by grace and not merit.

In your conversations with others I’m sure you’ve encountered someone who thinks because they are a relatively good person that they’re right with God.  But today on According to the Scriptures we learn that even they need a savior.  In Romans chapter two the apostle Paul establishes the guilt of the moral person.  We all fall short of the glory of God and need to be saved.

It’s been well said that “sin will take you further than you want to go – keep you longer than you want to stay – and cost you far more than you ever intended to pay.” So, it’s not only good to know where sins lead but also where it comes from – and if there’s a remedy. That’ll be our focus today on According to the Scriptures with Damian Kyle. In Romans chapter one starting in verse twenty-four we’re given in-depth insight on sin.

The Christian life is full of wounds and scars.  It could be that you’re hit with financial hardship, or a health crisis.  Today on According to the Scriptures we’ll learn that someone is always watching at such times, and our scars and how we respond to them can actually inspire someone.  Such was the case for Timothy, who observed the apostle Paul’s stoning! Pastor Damian Kyle will show us while Paul was suffering, Timothy was observing and it had an impact on his life in a great way.  We’re in Acts sixteen.

It’s been said, “There’s a God shaped hole in everyone.” It explains why so many feel so empty still – and why things just aren’t right.  They are reluctant to turn to God or worse they suppress the obvious truth about God. The Lord has anticipated this reality and tells us about it in His Word. Our teacher pastor Damian Kyle is in the book of Romans.  And it’s there, that we learn what happens when you exclude God and embrace sin!

As pastor Damian Kyle continues in the book of Romans chapter one we’ll hear about God’s view of sin and what’s to be done about it.

Contrary to every other world or religious view our relationship with the Lord is based on grace. In every other view, you must pay with good works, or karma, or pull yourself up by your own bootstraps. That leaves us constantly striving and never attaining.  Let’s find our place in the book of Romans – where we are reminded that our salvation is by grace, from start to finish.
