What a blessing it is to have good and godly friends, who will stand by our side through thick and thin and encourage us in the ways of the Lord.  And though we might be different in temperament and personality, we love them none the less.  Can you think of someone in your life that fits that description?  Today on According to the Scriptures pastor Damian Kyle draws attention to a precious friendship and relationship between Paul and Timothy.  It all began in Lystra.

Today on According to the Scriptures hear a mother’s instruction to her son.  In a nutshell she tells him adulthood is a time to grow up and speak up!  And it’s a timely word of encouragement to us!  In case you haven’t noticed, this world tries to keep us from growing up in Christ and silence us when we do speak up!

Without a doubt our mothers have a unique and powerful influence on the lives of their children.  Those of you with a godly mother, as I have, can look back over the years and see and appreciate the wisdom they imparted to us.  Their passion, relationship to us, and desire for our good, is like no other!  And they also are good about warning us too too!  Today on According to the Scriptures we’ll hear the wisdom of a Mother from Proverbs chapter 31, that we can all stand to benefit from.

We’re saved by grace alone through faith alone. Salvation is a gift to be received not achieved.  As Christians we believe that. But as you may know there are many in our world today that don’t!   They try to add something into the mix.  This leads to bondage, and leads people astray, as we’re about to see on According to the Scriptures.

About Damian Kyle

Damian Kyle committed his life to the Lord in 1980 at Calvary Chapel Napa California at the age of 25. He had previously been employed as a cable splicer with the phone company. His family moved from Napa to Modesto in June of 1985 to plant a Calvary Chapel with the blessing of their home church. He now serves as the pastor of Calvary Chapel in Modesto, California.
