Israel's Final Blessings Part 2

In today’s study of Genesis chapter 48 we are approaching the end of Jacob’s life. He’s at a much different place here at the end of the road, when compared to his early years. He’s no longer the deceiver, manipulator! It stands out as a reminder that our spiritual growth is slow and steady.

As followers of Christ we can look back over the years and see how God has provided for us where’s He’s guided us. He has a wonderful way of doing that. And today we’ll see that play out for Jacob and his family. God has provided for them the best land in Egypt! Let’s see how this relates to our lives here today on Abounding Grace.

Here on the weekends we’ve been discussing the nine manifestations of the Spirit, layed out for us in First Corinthians twelve. So there you are visiting with a friend, and the Lord impresses on your heart to speak a word into their life and situation. Right away you’re thinking, well this is a bit awkward or uncomfortable. While that may be the case, we’ll learn today that as we’re open to this manifestation of the Spirit, prophecy, God can accomplish great things.

Sometimes we fail to keep our promises. Whether it’s a promise to take our kids to the ballgame and we don’t, or we say we’ll pray for someone and fail to follow through! But God always keeps His promises, and you can hold on to that through life! Today on Abounding Grace we’ll spend some time reflecting on God always keeping His promises.

As we turn to Genesis chapter 46, God gives some direction to Jacob to go down to Egypt, and don’t be afraid! The Lord would be with Him every step of the way. While we don’t always know what God is up to in our lives, we can know that He is for us and accomplishing something good!

Been wronged or hurt deeply by the words or actions of another? It’s at that time we have a choice to make. We can either forgive and be free, or settle into unforgiveness and bitterness. Today on Abounding Grace we’re continuing the story of Joseph, a man who was wronged, and chose forgiveness. God would bless him for doing so.
