How the Devil Comes After Us Part 1b

April 10, 2025

We’ll be joined by pastor Ed Taylor in a moment, who today resumes our series in Acts.  We left off in chapter 25.  We’re about to get a glimpse into how the enemy works, and come after us.  We learned last time that he’s relentless and out to destroy our lives, often using discouragement.

When in the middle of a crisis many fixate on themselves and the circumstances surrounding them. But what if we were to look at it as an opportunity to share the gospel?  Today on Abounding Grace we find the apostle Paul in the midst of a great trial, but he would take this opportunity to share the good news!

As you follow the Lord, you can be sure people will say things about you that aren’t true.  That can really hit us like a ton of bricks.  And when it does happen we have a choice to make.  Will we react in the flesh or use it as an opportunity to advance the gospel?  Pastor Ed will talk about that during today’s program.

There you are sitting in church listening to the pastor’s message, but how do you really know he’s handling the Word correctly?  Or you’re studying the Bible on your own, and not sure what the correct interpretation is.  Today on Abounding Grace pastor Ed Taylor will provide some helpful steps in handling the Word correctly.  It’s part of our study of Second Corinthians, and today we’ll be in chapter four.

Today on Abounding Grace we’re introduced to a young man that God used to save the apostle Paul’s life!  He was brave, courageous, wise and trustworthy!  It’s a reminder that God can use anyone, no matter the age.

When things don’t turn out the way we thought they would, we might start to question, “Have I missed the will of God?”  It’s quite possible the apostle Paul felt this way in Acts 23.  Jerusalem didn’t turn out the way he thought it would, he’s discouraged and in jail!  Pastor Ed Taylor will draw out some very helpful lessons from this experience, that we can apply to our own walk.

So when’s the last time you’ve shared your testimony?  What do you say and how do you say it?  Will it be well received or will they get angry with us?  Opportunities are all around us, whether it’s on an airplane, waiting in the doctor’s office, or after work!  But will we have the courage to say what needs to be said?  Today on Abounding Grace we’ll learn from the apostle Paul’s experiences that will serve to help us share our testimony and the Gospel.

Today on Abounding Grace we will hear the Apostle Paul’s testimony and defense before the Jews. Find your place in chapter 22.  Paul is finally given his long-awaited opportunity to share Jesus with his fellow countrymen, the Jews.  It’s not an easy crowd to talk to that’s for sure.  And pastor Ed believes we can learn a great deal from it to help us share our faith and testimony!

Pastor Ed Taylor is about to finish up Acts chapter 21.  I think we’ve all shared this common experience… someone we know is gossiping about us behind our back, spreading vicious lies.  That really hurts doesn’t it?  Or maybe we’ve been on the other side spreading lies, slander or gossip!  We’ll learn a thing or two in the passage before us.  A small group of Jews from Asia were spreading a false lie about the Apostle Paul.  And he almost lost his life because of it!

It’s been said, “Most people wish to serve God- but only in an advisory capacity only!”  How about you, are you involved in serving Jesus and going about it with the right heart? Do you see it as the privilege that it really is?  Pastor Ed will help us develop a servant’s heart today in this his message, Using the Bible the Right Way.
