The Narrow Gate Part 1

See if this sounds familiar. You’re driving down the road thinking you’re well on the way to your destination. You pass several signs that say otherwise but they don’t catch your eye. Finally you come to the realization that you’ve been going the wrong way! Maybe that will happen to you, spiritually speaking, today on a Daily Walk. Countless people today think they’re on the highway to heaven, but in reality are on the road to destruction. Pastor John Randall takes us to Matthew seven, as we continue through the Sermon on the Mount.

Today we're in Mark chapter six. John the Baptist was the forerunner of Christ, sent ahead to prepare the way for the Lord. All around the world Christians are being persecuted for their faith, and we’re even seeing that here in America in growing measure. But remember Jesus said “In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!” As we look together at the death of John the Baptist, and how he was faithful even to the very end of his life, allow this to encourage your heart today. That no matter what comes our way, God will be with us, and can help us to remain faithful too.

Pastor John is going to offer quite a contrast between a group of people that were living in unbelief, with some others that were walking in faith! Question is, which of the two would best describe where you’re at today? Let’s think that over, as we turn in our Bibles to Mark chapter six.

Where do you turn when you’re broke, have an incurable disease and out of options? Or imagine your daughter has just died and you’re overwhelmed with grief! Or how about being demon possessed! Today on a Daily Walk we’ll observe some people in those situations and see how Jesus came through for them! Jesus has power over death, the devil and disease! This should deliver hope to our lives today no matter what we’re going through. We’ll be looking today at Mark chapter five!

Here on this Monday, pastor John Randall opens the fifth chapter of Mark and has us consider the remarkable power of Jesus. It’s here that we read about a demon-possessed man who had incredible strength... so strong was he that not even shackles could subdue him. It looked to be a hopeless condition… until he came into contact with Jesus… and everything changed.

We take another look at the Sermon on the Mount, today on a Daily Walk with pastor John Randall. Maybe you’ve noticed sin sure looks worse on others than it does in ourselves. We’re quick to point the finger and say, “oh how could they.” But we overlook our own faults. As we open up Matthew seven Jesus makes it clear we’re not to judge hypocritically. And before you confront someone, make sure you take care of what’s going on in your own life.

Pastor John Randall is currently leading us through the Gospel of Mark. At the end of chapter four, the disciples find themselves in a big storm. The lesson they would learn that day from Jesus, serves to help us encounter and endure the storms of life. And there have been plenty this year, I’m sure you’d agree! Pastor John has noticed some mistakes believers often make when they hit, but he’ll also reassure us we will make it through by faith in Christ.

Pastor John Randall opens Mark chapter four today. And we’ll be looking at a couple of parables of Christ, that deal with the Kingdom of God. Those of you into agriculture or gardening will no doubt appreciate these parables, as it’s right up your alley!

It’s not hard to see that darkness that seems to be growing as the years go by! But did you realize you have a responsibility as a Christian to be a light in a dark world? We’re to shine for Jesus, so that others may see the difference He makes in a human life and be drawn to Him. Today as we continue our series in Mark, Pastor John will have us consider the Lord’s words in chapter four, and the parable of the sower.

Throughout His earthly ministry Jesus used stories that His audience could identify with in order to help them understand a heavenly truth. They’re called “parables”. We’re about to encounter one such parable today, and it’s one of the best known of all shared by the Lord. The parable of the sower really is designed to get us to think about the condition of our own heart, so let’s do that together.
