The Last Shall be First Part 2

June 13, 2023

Have you ever wondered why God just doesn’t take us on up to heaven the moment we become saved?  Well the answer in part is we have a job to do. And part of that involves serving Him and sharing the gospel.  Today pastor John encourages us to be faithful to our calling until the Lord takes us home!

Pastor John Randall is leading a study through the Bible, and we pick things up in Matthew chapter 20 today.  Here we run across one of the many parables of Jesus, and this one speaks volumes about our service to the Lord and the motivation behind it.   A good passage to keep in mind as we head off to work in the morning, or at church on Sunday.

Prayer is a great privilege.  Just think we have access to our Father in heaven 24/7, anytime we want. But too often we go about it all the wrong way.  As if He’s a genie in a bottle, there to grant any wish we have.  So how should we pray?  We’re given some much needed guidance in the Sermon on the Mount from the ultimate teacher Jesus Himself.

Does it feel as though something is missing in your life?  Maybe you’ve been seeking truth here lately, like the man we’ll encounter today on a Daily Walk.  Very sadly in his case, he would walk away from what the Lord had for him.  But that doesn’t have to be the case for you!  Pastor John Randall will complete Matthew chapter nineteen and uncover what it takes to get to heaven.  It’s not by a good work, but by faith in Jesus and the finished work at the cross.

Like the man we’ll meet today many are under the impression that being a good person or going through the religious motions will save a person.  But as you’re about to learn it’s possible to be sincere, respectful and religious and yet be totally lost.  Today on a Daily Walk we turn to Matthew chapter nineteen and set out to answer the question, “How can I get into heaven and be assured of eternal life?”

Today we’ll once again look at the subject of marriage and divorce - and the ways to avoiding one from leading to the other. There are hundreds of books available that purport to tell you how to have a successful marriage, but there’s only one you can really count on for the truth - the Bible.

Today our teacher pastor John Randall will address the subject of Marriage and Divorce. I don’t need to recite to you the staggering statistics on divorce in the United States. Suffice it to say, divorce is way too easy and way too destructive. Christians aren’t immune from it either. How have we let the sanctity of marriage slip so far? Let's talk about it as we turn to Matthew chapter nineteen.

We’re working our way through the Bible with pastor John Randall leading the way.  And today we plan to finish Matthew chapter eighteen.  They’re some of the hardest words to say, “I forgive you!”  Especially after you’ve experienced great hurt.   But when you do forgive, you’re never more like Jesus, who forgave us a debt that we could never pay.  We’ll spend some time talking about the forgiveness of God and why we’re to follow in His footsteps by forgiving others.

When you give whose approval and applause are you seeking?  Man’s or God’s?   We’ll allow that penetrating question to examine our own hearts today on a Daily Walk. Today we’ll be covering the first few verses of Matthew six.  Throughout the Scriptures we’re encouraged to give.  But as we’ll see in our study today, Jesus has His eye on more than just our outward actions.  He’s also concerned with why we’re doing what we’re doing, and even how we do it!

We’ve all been hurt by the words or actions of another.  Maybe it was an unkind word spoken on social media, or someone has lied about you or stolen from you!  When that happens we have a choice to make… will we forgive them or not!  Today on A Daily Walk, pastor John Randall begins a study in Matthew eighteen, verses twenty-one through thirty-five. Jesus addresses the topic of forgiveness.

So you find out that someone from your church or a friend of yours is living in sin, how should you respond?  Or let’s make it a bit more person, what’s your reaction to a person that has sinned against you?  Do you start gossiping about it, as some are prone to do?  Today on a Daily Walk we’ll learn the biblical approach to the sinner that has the goal of restoration!  We’ll also develop a Kingdom Mindset.
