It’s not hard to see that darkness that seems to be growing as the years go by!  But did you realize you have a responsibility as a Christian to be a light in a dark world?  We’re to shine for Jesus, so that others may see the difference He makes in a human life and be drawn to Him. Today as we continue our series in Mark, Pastor John will have us consider the Lord’s words in chapter four, and the parable of the sower.

Throughout His earthly ministry Jesus used stories that His audience could identify with in order to help them understand a heavenly truth.  They’re called “parables”. We’re about to encounter one such parable today, and it’s one of the best known of all shared by the Lord.  The parable of the sower really is designed to get us to think about the condition of our own heart, so let’s do that together.

When Jesus chose His disciples He didn’t go by worldly standards. He picked some guys you might not expect! The group included fishermen, a religious zealot, a hated tax collector, and six others we know little about!  Just ordinary men, but they followed an extraordinary God.  Pastor John Randall is sharing a series in Mark, and today on a Daily Walk we’ll again be in chapter three.  Let’s hear more about the guys Jesus handpicked to be His disciples.

In the sermon on the mount, The Lord said, “Judge not, lest you be judged.” It’s become one of the most misused and misunderstood statements ever uttered by Jesus. You’ll hear that phrase often invoked to excuse all sorts of bad behavior. But is that an accurate usage of the Lord’s words? Is Jesus saying, we’re to refrain from exercising discernment? Pastor John Randall doesn’t think so. And he’ll show us why as he continues a study in the Sermon on the Mount.

Pastor John Randall will be resuming his verse by verse study of Mark on today’s program.  Join us in chapter three, as together we read about an encounter Jesus had with a man who had a withered hand.  He would restore him!  But pastor John also wonders, how many of us are in a withered condition right now in need of restoration?  Maybe it’s a withered marriage?  Let’s be encouraged by what God wants to do in our lives!

When we have a problem we naturally want to try to come up with a solution.  But what do you do when it’s totally out of your control and you’re out of options?  Today on a Daily Walk we’ll see that we’re all sinners and that’s a problem we can’t solve on our own… though many have tried.  Thankfully Jesus has solved our sin problem for us. He is a Savior for sinners.  Pastor John Randall will highlight that for us through a study in Mark chapter two.  In this passage Jesus is confronted by the religious leaders of His day.

Let’s say you’re being asked to put a team together at work, what do you typically look for?  Perhaps the best and brightest in the field, or most popular!  But it’s interesting to observe who Jesus choose to be His disciples!  People you might not expect… fishermen and a tax collector just to name a few.  And that should encourage all of us, that no matter what our background, education or ability… God can still use us in a mighty way. Let’s look together at the calling of Matthew, today on a Daily Walk, as we join pastor John Randall in Mark chapter two.

Today pastor John Randall opens Mark chapter two.  It describes the miraculous story of four men bringing their paralytic friend to Jesus.  As you look at all that they went through, and the obstacles they overcame, it’s truly inspirational.  Jesus took notice of their faith, and so too should we!  Along the way we’ll consider the question, what would we be willing to do, to bring a friend to Jesus?

We’re making our way through Mark’s gospel.  Today we’ll observe the healing of a paralytic.  As fantastic as that is, there was something far greater in his life that needed to be dealt with… his spiritual condition.  And Jesus would take care of that too!  Maybe you’re in need of healing today… physically or spiritually?  Let’s see what the Lord can do in our lives, as we come to Him in faith.

Anxiety is a real problem for many of us.  Just look at the rising use of anti-anxiety medication as evidence of that.  And maybe that’s something that you deal with?  When it happens, what should you do?  Let’s talk about that today on a Daily Walk with pastor John Randall.  John will address the cause and the cure for anxiety, as we visit the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew six.
