Loving, Giving, Praying Part 1

We all have difficult people in our lives, who perhaps hurl insults our way, spew hatred in our direction, or act in some malicious way to us.   Do we give them a little taste of their own medicine, and get them back for all they’ve done?  Actually, as we’ll see today on a Daily Walk we’re called to love them.

If you’re at all like me you’ve lost or misplaced anything from your glasses to your car keys.  And when we lose something of great value it can be really disheartening.  But think of the joy you experience when you finally find it after a relentless pursuit!  Today on a Daily Walk we’ll notice how God is pursuing the lost, and the joy heaven experiences when the lost is found!

I think we’ve all experienced losing something of great importance and then sometimes we experience the joy of finding it! Oh what a feeling! In Luke Chapter fifteen Jesus speaks of things that were lost and then found.  And maybe through this study you’ll discover you’re the one that’s lost today?  The good news is, Jesus wants to find you!

We’re sitting around the dinner table today with Jesus, as we resume our study of Luke’s gospel.  Pastor John has us consider the fourteenth chapter today, where we’ll find a lack of humility and sincerity among other things. We’ll then transition to the cost of discipleship!  In case you haven’t noticed there is a cost that goes along with following Jesus.

It’s not hard to see that the vast majority are consumed with pride, and seeking to exalt themselves every chance they get.  From the corporate executive who puts others down to climb the ladder, to the Pro Athlete who boasts in their accomplishments.  But God wants us in a position of humility.  It’s there that He can give us what we need… His grace!  Today on a Daily Walk we open up Luke fourteen where Jesus points out the religious leaders lack of sympathy and humility.

Parables, in the simplest sense, are earthly stories with a heavenly meaning. In Luke Thirteen, we are given a couple of important parables, by the Lord, concerning the Kingdom of God. That phrase is familiar to most Christians, but what is Jesus talking about when He refers to “The Kingdom of God”? About A Daily Walk

John Randall is the Senior Pastor of Calvary South OC located in San Clemente CA. John has been serving in pastoral ministry for over 25 years and is the featured speaker on the Bible teaching radio program "A Daily Walk."  He is known for his clear and relatable presentation of the Scriptures.

About John Randall

As a child, John’s family  began attending Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa  in 1974.  It was there that he attended  the elementary school, Jr. High, and graduated from Calvary Chapel High School.  Following graduation he went on staff at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa as a janitor. It was also at this time that he met his wife Michelle who was teaching at Calvary’s elementary school.

After four years on staff  having served in children’s ministry, high school ministry and worship John went on staff at Calvary Chapel in Vista CA. 

In 1997 the Randall’s set out on a venture of faith to the SouthEast of Florida where they planted their first church, Calvary Chapel of Brandon. After ten years of ministry in Florida the Lord called the Randall's back to Southern California where John currently pastors at  Calvary South OC.  John has been serving in pastoral ministry for over 25 years and is the featured speaker on the Bible teaching radio program "A Daily Walk." He is known for his clear and relate-able presentation of the Scriptures. John and his wife Michelle have four children.
